    Château de Montsoreau

A Loire Castle with "its feet in the water"

Midway between Saumur and Chinon, above where the Vienne and the Loire meet, the Montsoreau Castle mixes feudal fortress and the elegance of Renaissance dwellings.
The castle was built at the point where Anjou,Touraine and Poitou meet, close to the river, which during the Medieval period fed its moat.

A magnificent itinerary passes through 18 of the castle's rooms and allows visitors to discover the richness of the entire Angers region and to meet Dame de Montsoreau, the protagonist in an Alexandre Dumas novel.
